Punjab Kings (PBKS) held their nerve to seal a 5-run win over bottom-placed SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a low-scoring Indian Premier League (IPL) thriller at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. The KL-Rahul moved to the 5th spot post the win, keeping their playoff chances alive. The result meant SRH are out of contention now and have no chance of advancing any further with this being their fifth consecutive defeat in IPL 2021. Earlier, PBKS batsmen failed to understand the conditions and succumbed to the intelligent spells of bowling from Rashid Khan (1/17), Jason Holder (3/19) and Sandeep Sharma (1/20).SRH vs PBKS, IPL 2021: Highlights”The bowling unit, fielding unit did a fantastic job. Certainly, the surface was a tough one. Required partnerships and we were certainly backing ourselves to get close,” Kane Williamson said in the post-match presentation ceremony.Williamson was full of praises for Jason Holder who came up with a superb all-round effort in the last-over thriller. Holder fought a lone battle, scoring 47 unbeaten runs in just 29 deliveries.”It took a brilliant individual performance in both halves from Jason Holder, especially with the bat to keep the match competitive. It’s (SRH) a proud franchise, frustrating season.”We do need to look for areas to improve. We try to learn from the first half of the game. Punjab tried to come out attacking like it usually happens in T20s. But playing shots was challenging,” Williamson added.”For us it was about looking to build platforms. It was quite a challenge to pounce on them without losing wickets. The games come thick and fast.”We need to come to the next game with fresh eyes and freedom. We will try and put in the best. Smart cricket needs to be played with different surfaces,” Williamson further said.Click here for our site’s complete coverage of the coronavirus pandemic.
